Yes, I’m spoiling this precious fur kid. It’s been one week since his rescue, so I thought an update would be worth sharing.
He will stay here at The Colony - no more sleeping under trucks and no more street fights, no more swatting mosquitos, dodging traffic or trolling for food, or battling fleas. No more people yelling at him and throwing things at him to get him to leave, when all he ever wanted was a meal. It will be a process…but a beautiful one.
From my original post on my Rescue Revolution substack, the day I caught him, a phyrric victory always, especially when the vet bill gets handed to you - and we rescued two cats that day…geez…anyway, I posted some of my paintings in the post and put them out there for sale. Amazingly, one of my awesome subscribers fell in love with one of my paintings and bought it! I was thrilled, and had some cash in my Paypal account, so, I thought I might buy Cheeks his first bed!
It was on the FB neighborhood marketplace - so it was an amazing price and it is still in the package and has never been used! Just awesome!
The mangled cat that would be (will be) King…
His cheeks is badly scarred - he came in a few years ago with his face ripped up…his eye torn and he drooling from infection. I ordered some holistic meds from an amazing holistic anmimal meds place in Austrailia - I’ve used their products on all my special needs…amazing. They were put out of business quickly when the fakedemic hit…anyway, I added some amazing holistic meds to his food every day for weeks and amazingly he finally recovered. You can see the side of his face in the photos below - his mangled face, his precious cheek, terribly scarred, but I swear that the scar left a heart shape under his right eye. Love…love…love him!
But he will now be forever retired from the battlefield.
He is still too shy to come out when I go into his outdoor cage to play the cat maiden, but that’s to be expected. He’s been through hell and I don’t trust peole either. But he’s getting lots of catnip and toys, great food, cooling pads, a fan, and always a clean box - and most importantly, sweet talk. And he is jumping up to his perches about two feet up, when I’m not watching - I see his footprints when I clean his cage, and he’s walking on his foot just fine now…and no more hissing or growling…(where I was convinced that he was calling me a whore…LOL)
So, we’re doing good…just a bit of dervishing for me to get his garage digs together and build a window cage for his outdoor experience. The Toolbelt Diva is about to get busy…and sweat out those fukking nanos?
It will be a much needed break for me though, a forced detox from the horror show we are living through, but fear not, I have a lot more soul-crushing substacks lined up and drafted…information that should be known by those with the courage to look, but is sure to trigger us even more…but…today…? …it is all about Cheeks…and his new castle!
He’s about 7 years old…we’ve been feeding him since before Hurrican Harvey - he was gone for five days and somehow survived that hideous weather weapon…but he’s been coming in regularly since then. So sad, he’s never been petted, never had toys, no sweet talk, mostly yelled at and chased away by most who saw him…all that is about to change…
And how adorable is his new bed??? And how precious is he?
okay…cleaning the garage in 97 degree heat…I’ll wet myself down and pretend that it’s a sauna? Send me strength…
Hold down the fort - I’ll be back soon…I’ll check in on the comments later - and let you know that I didn’t pass out and die in there…? I’ve been known to say, on many occasions, “get me the fukk outta here”…LOL Hopefully no one was listening…scratch that…they are listening…NSA? DARPA…? …fuck them both…
Things I’ve always excelled at…self-identifying as a shield maiden, and always getting into trouble…
Long distance hugs to your new/old kitkit ,,😺💕 may you both live long and prosper 🖖
OMG I can't believe how fabulous his bed is! And what a blessing to have your rescue mission, as hard and expensive as it sometimes is ... amidst the soul-crushing reality we are all having to face, in the hope we will be victorious, even when it seems impossible. Cheeks will be forever grateful to you, and I know the day will come when he becomes a cuddler and maybe even a lap-kitty! Bravo to your efforts!
