In a grid down situation each family member should have their own squirt bottle- the dollar store has the ones you put ketchup & mustard in. Label them & wa la. Keep jugs of water nearby to fill & flush.

In an extreme grid down situation, the water might not work. If you're on a well, but also city water might not work.

In the cities, sewage could be a real health hazard.

Keep filled bottles of water for flushing. We refill gallon milk bottles & keep them in the bathroom closets for emergencies. Long term? Yes, good to have property with a spring.

Installed a bidet in last house we abandinenin 2021 for the C-vid...it was cheap and awesome. I will see if I can retrace my steps for the what and how much. Its an easy install on an existing toilet. I LOVED the no paper needed experience..

I am absolutely on your page about Stoli vs water (or even cheaper and more antiseptic Everclear-Stoli best enjoyed via upper "entry point" (she says with a Monopolowa on ice w olives by her side).

I was planning to photoshop a Biden - Harris lawn poster into Bidet - Arse poster at some point but suppose that's likely not going to be needed after all...

Got one. You still need to use tp or sit for 20 min while your tookis dries. I suppose you could just have a towel handy though.

A friend of my ordered a toilet from Germany where after squirting your nether regions with warm water you pressed a button to air dry them with warm air lol

I remember another tip from years ago. Cut up an old flannel sheet into small squares. Use these to pat yourself dry. Then have a container and when it's full, wash them. Of course, that's assuming you have water. Otherwise, leaves and compost them.

This may sound yucky, but but before disposable diapers, people used to wash out cloth diapers all the time, kept in a diaper pail with something to keep down the odor.

Also, a handheld bidet works fine, on amazon. Just a squeeze bottle with a curved tip and a hole to expel air. Maybe a little pouch for travel or work. A ketchup bottle from the dollar store is ok, but the curved tip works better.

Practical consideration. Don't they make it harder to clean the toilet? Like having to clean around tubes of some kind. Especially with hard water and having to clean it frequently or it gets terrible.

Bidets are so common in Thailand, with toilet paper both not available in many bathrooms and then with reminders not to flush it down the toilet in those that do have it, that my husband Oh installed a bidet in one of our bathrooms in the Las Vegas house after we moved in. They don't bother me and in a way seem more sanitary. I guess on the plus side I won't be fighting over TP on the shelves at Wal Mart when the next catastrophe hits...
