Love that you're into this research Pasheen, and for the interview - I will definitely give it a listen! To play devil's advocate (once again) I will say that LEDs have a different quality as they emit from a flat surface, whereas other forms of red light that are emitted from incandescent bulbs offer a radiative aspect unparalled by LED.

Here are some ways LEDs are different FYI:

I am suspicious of LED lights in general since they are point source and, maybe more importantly, they were shoved upon us almost overnight without, seemingly, and proper vetting and now you cannot find good ol' incandescents anywhere. Will check your post, for sure.

Thank you Thoth! Love the thought.

I dislike LED lights and feel that the EMF’s they emit overshadow any benefit the red lights may provide. I have found that incandescent red light bulbs are basically heat lamps and it’s difficult for me to stay under them for any length of time. What am I missing?

Thank you both for chiming in. Yes incandescent are heat bulbs by design, but depending on which one you use you may get more or less of a different spectrum. Near infrared (NIR) is the most important and biologically beneficial, along with the shape of the bulb.

The Sun is a sphere, and this is why our bodies respond more to spheres of energy than lasers of a single spectrum.

LEDs that emit in only one wavelength are also not natural.

Here's a company I like that provides the best NIR bulbs around (I'm also an affiliate): https://sauna.space/?sca_ref=4970250.u1IdWT06XD

yes, I've seen that site...I think Ardis is an affiliate also? It's a bit pricey for me, but great stuff! Thx

Absolutely! I hear you about the vet bills - my family is going through the same. NIR light works for animals too (: or just have them see the Sunrise with you and eat lots of fish, that works too. Hope they get/ are well.

I have a few regular incandescent bulbs in the lamps I use the most and they seem better for my eyes. I hope to find more in the future. What a scam with making the incandescents unavailable in the US. I'll look into the incandescent NIR bulbs, but not if they are too pricey. The LED IR and NIR have worked well for me, but I'd prefer incandescents.

The EMF idea is something a person could check using an EMF meter.

Great points Katie. What gets measured, gets managed. FYI the infrared sauna by sauna space, and their bulbs (along with incandescent) are very low EMF. There are light meters out there like the LightBee which measure background dirty electricity, usually given off by CFL.

Say, do you keep your eyes open or is the light working through closed eyelids? I am asking because the device I use is really bright and even with eyes lightly shut it's intense. Thanks for the post!

the unwritten sort-of rule is, and the one I go by, that if it is irritating, close your eyes. It does work through closed eyelids. I open and close as I feel like it...that's all I've got. After years of LEDs and blue light from devices, the red light is the least of my worries...I don't wear the black glasses unless I'm on my mat, full blast and flashing...so to speak...😆

Thanks for replying. It's helpful to learn that "I'm not doing it wrong" or something. A bit more here, a bit less there, etc. .. makes sense.

Cheers.

Light will still penetrate your eyelids, and we also have photoreceptors all over our skin and subcutaneous fat - depends on your health goal. Good question though Thoth!

This is an extremely important question.

As a kid, we were told "don't look directly at the sun" so being the (brilliant and defiant) idiot that I am, I would walk and stare at the sun as long as I thought prudent. As far as I know, that never harmed my eyes. However, I'd never recommend to someone else to do that! Use your own judgement!

As for Red Light Therapy, just like how I measured the reduction in transmission through a t-shirt, consider that your eyelids are going to absorb a lot of the light. So in effect you are weakening the red light therapy. So how "much" you need or is beneficial is going to change on whether you open or close your eyes and how powerful the source of red light is. With a lamp across the room, I have no concerns at all of looking at it with my eyes open. But if I cover my eyes with a red light belt or place a lamp very close to my face then indeed, I'm going to keep my eyes shut and the exposure brief.

Yes...if I'm comfortable with it, I open my eyes...I try to get into the sun whenever it is clear enough from chemtrails, and I don't look directly into the sun, but look just a bit to the side and let it enter my eye to some extent...

Love the Vit C hack...especially for us hormonal menopausal dames...looking forward to more RL stacks. All of the women I know also have thyroid problems...one of my girls that I turned onto RL is using it on her thyroid...she'll keep me posted. All I know is that it is kicking my joint pain big time and great for headaches...has helped my mac degen...so, I'm all in!

awww...thx for the appreciation...just trying to help us all heal from the utter insanity and trauma - and keep us out of the medical cartel's nasty cutches...and since the assaults never seem to end, I try to stay on top of what's coming at us and see if we can mitigate in a natural, non-invasive way, if possible...it's good to have goals? So, here's to our health!

I started using IR/NIR several years ago and it worked amazingly well for some back and knee pain, so I didn't need to use it for quite a while. I'm back to using it, and your stack has helped boost my use of it. I never heard that it was best in the AM before. If I overdo physical stuff and have a lot of pain, I'll probably use it twice a day.

However, not too late in the evening. I used it pretty late at night for several nights and was awake till 2 or 3 AM. I think it gave me too much energy for late in the day. Others may have noticed this, or maybe it was something else unique to my situation.

My aches/pains are receding now except one or two muscles I pulled, better but not as quickly. This is after a week or so of every morning and sometimes twice a day.

I bought the belt John Wright showed on his site and am happy with it. I like it better than a panel which I got some years ago, both work but the belt is more convenient and cheaper. Got the bulb Mr Wright recommended and will try it when I figure out a way to set it up. Not sure if I can put it in a clip on fixture (like you use to do work in the basement). Too busy right now.

I have had a LOT of eye inflammation and for a while my eyes would be swollen so by the end of the day so I could not read very well, even online with the print made large. Someone on Sage's stack recommended castor oil on my eyelids and that helped A LOT. However, I'd love to resolve the problem further, since it's still there. I'm going to try it very cautiously with my eyes. I wonder about the eye inflammation and all the pollution coming from the sky causing eye allergies.

I'd love to read what others say, and will report anything new.

I’m so excited for you! You pushed and pushed on that wall, and you’re breaking through!! We share your joy and add our hopes and prayers to your own for complete recovery of your sight.

Come to think of it…it’s interesting to me how many people I know, or am acquainted with, who can “see” (insight), but also struggle with their physical sight. 🤔

You will overcome. My best to you.

If I understand correctly most of the red light LED devices have both IR and NIR. You can choose one or both. I started a few years ago with the NIR (doesn't cause heat and doesn't light up red, looks like they are turned off but a dim glow in a dark room) but recently have been using both. Mainly because it's winter and I like the heat.

Are you still using the same wide belt you were using when you wrote, a month or 2 ago, or have you changed?

Also for your eyes, are you still using the wide belt? I remember that for your mother-in-law, your got the eye-glasses.

Anyway I would appreciate the specifics. Thanks in advance.
