Loved this post! Thank you for helping animals. I also love animals -- even the distrustful stray cats. Your art is beautiful! I am new to your substack - do you teach art?
thank you...no I don't teach, but you don't need a teacher. There are so many tutorials online on any style you want to learn...amazing, really! If you're interested in pour painting I could give you a few of my favorite artists - they have YouTube channels and lots of instructions on mixing paints and techniques...
Look for Heather Mader on YouTube...one of my faves...
Love the cats...I only have a pair of feline porch guardians, but they can be a handful at times, too.
Will get to the text in the next day or two, but wanted to let you know what your 'Panspermia' reminded me of. Saw it back about 1970 at MOMA in NYC. Here's a short visit clip of it.
WOW...that is a powerful piece. Thanks for sharing. And the Sturgeon images are powerful too... and all a bit unnerving in a way, which I'm sure is what they were going for. Panspermia is one of Greg's favorites too. It is a small canvass, 10X10 with cradled border, which means the sides are 7/8" - and become extensions of the canvas as the paint drips down to create its own frame. I love these canvases for fluid art, and they stand on their own with no need to frame them. I took a few more pics - one of the side, so you can see what I mean and one another pic showing it on the wall for perspective. I can't post pics in the comments here, but I will do another substack - just for you - with additional pics and information. I have no idea what to ask for it...make me an offer that will include shipping. Hopefully you are in the US?
Swamped here today, but I will get to this soon. I'm inspired to paint again and lighten up on trying to save the world...thanks for that!
Will do...I am currently in Eastern North Carolina, but my kid brother lives in Austin...and since I have dropped about 13-14 pounds in the past 30 days, with no change in diet, exercise regimen or vitamin/supplement intake...wasn't trying to slim down, honest!
I went from 210 to 170 in the last 4 months of 2020 via a simple keto/low carb...and was at 170 on May 4th probably right around 170 on 10 June and now I'm down to 157.
So if the chest CAT scan I'm getting done in 10 days doesn't show any areas of major concern, the next step is a colonoscopy or at least the Cologuard test...bottom line is I might wind up visiting Austin as a meat-departure point.
I may ask your opinion about self-exit as a protective measure in the email I'll send later, but in case I forget to mention it in the email, the preceding was a snapshot of what I'm dealing with medically.
I would forego the colonoscopy...I've heard horror stories...in fact I turned down a cat scan myself...don't trust any medical fluids...but, always, your call.
Okay...no rush on the painting....I've got plenty to do here...
I scrolled through all your posts looking for this one. 🤣 We follow so many of the same people! I do like your art! You could list it on POD sites as prints. FineArtAmerica is another one. I'll email you about it. So sad what you went thrugh in the Hurricane...recently my daughter, granddaughter and son were flooded out in what we think was a weather mod event. Building was condemned. No FEMA assistance. Owners had flood insurance so they get a new apartment building. State of Tx provided cots in the civic center. (they came here instead) No help for the tenants. They lost a lot of stuff. So yes I know what you went through. Appalling the way FEMA works. Glad you are recovering! So great that you rescue. All my dogs have been rescues. (One little chihuahua now.)
and the hits just keep on coming...so your family was flooded too...it is intense...a heavy rain and I get Post Traumatic Flood Disorder. And when you have your own home it is dreadful...you have no choice - you have to put it back together.
Adored this post being a huge animal lover. If you ever write 'Rescue Revolution', I would be the first to get a copy. I love the photos of the cats and your artwork is terrific and beautiful.
Awww...thank you, darling. So much more to tell and I wish I had time to write it...but I would need a few clones to help me out here. It is a dervish every day, but the kidz are all pretty chill and thankfully they sleep 22 hours a day.
So glad you like my paintings, they're not for everyone, but I love doing it. Will do more - I do need to indulge in some creativity. I actually have one person interested in buying one! Amazing.
And on we go...thanks for all you do - you are a monster at keeping us all and the activist email cadre informed. Phenomenal work!!!
Thank you so much...I was hoping it wasn't too long and self-indulgent...I guess I wrote that Rescue Revolution book after all? Or at least the intro...I saw some typos...will try to correct them...geez...
I Cannot bear to see animals hurt. You must be very special. Thank you for what you do.
Great post. Thanks for sharing. I love your art work too.

Better idea of the overall picture: https://www.moma.org/magazine/articles/73
Saw it right around the time I discovered Sturgeon's 'More Than Human'. Resonance happened.
If you have my email via my subscription, feel free to quote a price for 'Panspermia' & advise size.
Best of everything to you & yours
